Light and shadow close together: Unior Euro 17 mini tool in the test

Unior Euro 17 mini tool in the test

Test Minitools: Unior is one of the world's largest metal processing companies. The company supplies, among other things, forged parts to renowned European automobile manufacturers and their system suppliers. Another important area of the company is the production of tools. With the Unior Euro 17 mini tool, the range also includes a bicycle tool equipped with 17 functions. We took a closer look at the tool with the burnished tool tips in the test.

Unior Euro 17 mini tool: construction and processing

The easy-to-open tools of the Unior Euro 17 mini tool are integrated into a plastic frame. The frame is relatively large at 79 x 58 x 20 millimeters. We really like the individual tools, which are long enough even for deeper screws. The burnished tips also promise high stability and at the same time reduce signs of wear. Everything needed for basic roadside repairs is on board. These include, among other things, a wide range of Allen keys as well as Torx keys in sizes T10 and T25. A special feature is the valve extractor in combination with the chain riveter - but more on that later.

handling

The Unior Euro 17 mini tool impresses with its extremely smooth functionality. The reason for this is special PVC discs, which, when placed between the tools, allow the required tools to be unfolded easily and quickly. However, due to the size of the plastic frame, the tool does not fit perfectly in the hand. However, the biggest shortcoming becomes apparent at higher tightening torques. If the screws are tight, the entire frame twists, making precise screw tightening very difficult. Almost incomprehensible when you look at the other well thought-out detailed solutions. The valve extractor can be unscrewed and screwed into the chain riveter as a lever extension for greater leverage. Even a DT spoke wrench is part of the “inventory”. Unfortunately, light and shadow are sometimes quite close together.

Actually a great tool with many well-selected tools. The burnished tool tips speak for themselves, as does the possibility of using the valve extractor as a lever extension for the chain riveter. The biggest drawback is the unstable plastic frame, which twists enormously at higher tightening torques.
