With the Specialized Torch 3.0 and 2.0, the manufacturer has two new racing bike shoe models up its sleeve. While the Torch 3.0 is aimed at all racing bike lovers with a penchant for the accelerator pedal, the Torch 2.0 is the ideal choice for ambitious beginners who want to benefit from the full Specialized performance to make the first few kilometers of racing bike as pleasant as possible. Both models have a classic, clean look and were designed with some new details.
Specialized Torch 3.0
The Torch 3.0 comes with its classic aesthetics, high-quality construction and a high level of comfort, which means that this shoe adopts most of the features of the high-end professional model S-Works Torch. Just like the S-Works Torch, it has a unidirectional carbon sole, two BOA twist locks and a continuous upper material that is made from one piece.
The sole gives the Torch 3.0 its slim look and is intended to ensure efficient power transmission, while the one-piece mesh upper material wraps the foot snugly and comfortably. This creates less movement within the shoe, which means less loss of strength. The combination of these features make the Torch 3.0 an efficient, comfortable and reliable performance shoe on all roads.
Specialized Torch 2.0
The Specialized Torch 2.0 also adopts various details from its big brothers and, with its wide range of uses, is particularly aimed at ambitious beginners who value a successful mix of performance and comfort. This combination is made possible primarily by the special construction of this Specialized innovation for 2024. During development, great attention was paid to great adaptability of the fit and a supple upper material.
Both the new Specialized Torch 3.0 and the Torch 2.0 feature Specialized's proven Body Geometry technology for better power transmission and a high degree of individuality. The Torch 3.0 is available in four colors for 250 euros. The Torch 2.0 also comes in four color versions for 200 euros.
Specialized product news 2024: The new Propero 4 road bike helmet
The US manufacturer also has a new helmet model in its portfolio for the upcoming season. We're talking about the new Specialized Propero 4. To us, this looks a bit like a fusion of the S-Works Evade 3 and S-Works Prevail 3 and, according to the manufacturer, comes with the same technologies as the other two models.
In the development process of the new Propero 4, aerodynamics was the top priority, with the shape being inspired by the S-Works Evade 3. However, in a second step, great attention was paid to ventilation. Thanks to a higher internal airflow for more cooling, the Propero 4 is a very balanced helmet with the best of three worlds. Aerodynamics, ventilation and low weight for more speed. Tests in the Specialized WinTunnel showed that the Propero 4 is four watts faster than the S-Works Prevail 3. This corresponds to a lead of 15 seconds over 40 km at an average speed of 45 km/h.
In addition to the performance advantages, great care was also taken to ensure that this new Specialized helmet could adopt as much technology as possible from the S-Works helmets, which also pays off in terms of protection and safety. For example, MIPS technology and a comfortable adjustment system are used. In size M, the new Specialized Propero 4 weighs 290 grams and is available for 190 euros.
