Raffle: The POC Calyx is the manufacturer's first multifunctional helmet that has been certified for three sports thanks to its innovative design. Due to POC's background in skiing and cycling, these two disciplines were of course given particular consideration in the development and the Calyx was given additional features for mountaineers. So that you are well protected on your upcoming outdoor adventures, we are giving away four brand new POC Calyx helmets.
The POC Calyx is POC's first helmet certified for the sports of skiing, mountaineering and cycling. With a host of innovations in performance and protection, the Calyx is designed to provide the best protection on any terrain, whether in the city, on the road, in the snow or on the mountain.
Triple certification for cycling, skiing and mountain
The POC Calyx was developed and certified for skiing, mountaineering and cycling. The ski and cycling certifications are widely known and are based on a drop test. Certification for mountain sports requires a different testing and development process as the helmets must be able to withstand significant fall and impact forces that can occur in a rock fall.
At first glance, the Calyx appears like an ordinary ski helmet, but behind the Calyx's minimalist look lie a variety of advanced technical and material details. For example, an innovative fabric is used to protect the helmet Controls air circulation and takes on a completely new silhouette.
Thanks to its development and design approach, the POC Calyx has a modular system, which allows the helmet to be easily personalized and adjusted to the activity in question. For example, an innovative fabric is used to protect the helmet Controls air circulation and takes on a completely new silhouette. The helmet is also equipped with an optimized, two-layer EPP inner lining, which is very durable and offers protection against repeated impacts.
A newly developed ventilation system with special channels inside the helmet ensures that air can flow freely over the head. The ventilation holes on the top of the helmet, inspired by the POC bicycle helmets, are designed to allow hot air to escape through a “chimney effect” when walking or climbing. The helmet also features a three-stage ventilation system that allows for customization based on personal needs.
However, the core element of the POC Calyx is the modular system, because a helmet that is suitable for various disciplines must be as versatile as possible. Features such as the glasses clip, foldable ear pads and neck warmer come into play here, all of which are designed to be easily removed and reattached depending on individual needs and activity. Also new to the Calyx helmet is a fully foldable adjustment system. In “pack mode” it can be pushed all the way into the helmet for transport.
To ensure a seamless fit, care was taken to ensure that the Calyx works as a unit with the POC glasses and ensures a seamless fit. In particular, the new POC Vitrea Goggle is said to have served as a sample and fits best with the POC Calyx 3-in-1 helmet.
