Test Bulls Evo Twenty4: With Bosch Active Line Plus and lighting system, the Bulls is in the border area between an e-MTB and an e-everyday bike. This is a coherent concept, especially for children, and the 24-inch bike is also appealing in other ways.
At Bulls, getting started with an e-bike is extremely affordable at just 2.399 euros. However, you can also add 200 euros and get the Bulls Evo Twenty4 with 500 instead of 400 watt hours in the external battery. In any case, you can look forward to a proven drive option with the Bosch Active Line Plus: The medium-torque motor designed for touring and city bikes suggests that the brand, which is rooted in MTB sports, does not necessarily have a race bike for kids in mind had, but rather an all-rounder.
Bulls Evo Twenty4: Versatile with lighting system
That's definitely a good thing, because when it's about more than just off-road riding fun, an e-bike has to be able to do more. And so the Bulls scores points, for example, with a permanently mounted lighting system (and of course powered by the drive battery), thanks to which the bike can also be used on the way to school etc.
There is a side stand on the bike and mudguards and a luggage rack can also be attached, making the E-MTB a fully-fledged children's trekking bike. With 80 mm of suspension travel at the front and a moderately wide range of eight-speed gears (11-40 teeth), as well as heavily profiled tires, the Bulls can still be moved confidently off-road.
Bosch Active Line Plus with powerful thrust
The Bosch Active Line Plus also provides solid propulsion there, although it is of course not intended for steep trails. The engine pleases with its harmonious character and always controllable thrust, which is particularly useful for children in everyday use. However, the provider refrains from locking the drive at around 20 km/h. The small Purion display on the left of the handlebar is also good for children: the buttons for the riding modes are easy to reach, and thanks to the rather small amount of information, the display is not distracting. The external battery can be easily removed.
The child-friendly sitting position with the handlebars placed well above saddle level also speaks in favor of the Bulls - for sport and everyday use. This means that the bike is in its element wherever the off-road ambitions are not extremely great - for example when you have to go over unpaved routes in everyday life to avoid road traffic. A child-friendly saddle and handlebars that are slightly curved towards the rider round off an e-bike that is a good choice for children and young people. And given the area of use, the weight of 18,3 kilos plus pedals is also okay.
Small e-MTBs for the trail and more: E-bikes for children tested
E-bikes for children in the test: Please don't get excited - putting your children on an electric bike can definitely make sense. After all, mom and dad ride with support, and a little extra boost can't hurt in everyday life or when doing MTB sports. Velomotion looked at five very different models. E-bikes have long been mainstream, and something against them […]
