Down Under Classic: Narvaez wins the criterion as a runaway

13 January 2024 by Michael Behringer

Tour Down Under Classic Narvaez

Cycling: Jhonatan Narvaez won the Tour Down Under Classic. The professional from the Ineos Grenadiers team triumphed as an outlier ahead of Natnael Tesfatsion and Isaac Del Toro.

Narvaez annoys the sprinters

Traditionally, the professional cyclists compete in a small warm-up before the start of the Tour Down Under. Actually it's a matter for the sprinters, but this time the outliers should be in the lead. The Colombian Jonathan Narvaez (Ineos Grenadiers) could imagine Natnael Tesfatsion (Lidl – Trek) from Eritrea and Isaac Del Toro (UAE) from Mexico prevail. Germany Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain – Victorious) was the fastest sprinter in seventh place behind the six-man breakaway group. The Tour Down Under begins on the night of Monday to Tuesday. It lasts until Sunday and is decided on the hilly last two stages. Today's criterion has no effect on the tour.
