Cycling: Jayco AlUla can look back on a very successful 2023 season. To ensure that everything will be even better next year, the Australians are bringing back an old friend: Caleb Ewan. But the sprinter is not the only reinforcement.
A satisfactory year for Jayco AlUla
The professionals from Jayco AlUla were at the top of the podium a total of 17 times in the 2023 season. 23 second and 21 third places complete the Australian team's podium statistics. The team can be satisfied with that, even if there were only four successes in the WorldTour. Simon yates won a stage of the Tour Down Under, Dylan Groenewegen at the UAE Tour. The Giro d’Italia was particularly successful, as everyone cheered here Michael Matthews and Filippo Zana about a day's victory. Overall, Sprinter Groenewegen’s return can be described as successful. The Dutchman won a total of 6 races and was on the podium another 8 times. And when it comes to the team's GC ambitions, you won't be dissatisfied overall. Simon yates came fourth in the Tour de France and Paris – Nice, as well as second in the domestic Tour Down Under. Edward Dunbar particularly impressed with 7th place at the Giro d’Italia.
2024: Caleb Ewan returns
Caleb ewan has signed a contract with Jayco AlUla for 2024. The Australian is returning after driving for the team between 2014 and 2018. As a driver he could Max Walscheid help. The German agreed, as did the Swiss Mauro Schmid, who sees his strengths in the flats and on slightly undulating terrain. Luke Plop could definitely be described as a royal transfer. The only 22-year-old Australian comes from the Ineos Grenadiers team and has already shown flashes of his potential in the preseason. However, 2023 was not a step forward for him. He is now trying to make up for this at Jayco AlUla. He is considered a strong climber and the Australians' secret GC hope. With the Italian Davide De Pretto and the Dane anders foldager Two talented people join the team who also feel more at home in the mountains. This means that Jayco AlUla is strengthening itself enormously, while at the same time not losing any irreplaceable drivers. In addition to the end of his career Zdenek Stybar is probably above all the departure of Matteo Sobrero painful. Kevin Colleoni had a strong year in 2022, but at least regressed in terms of results this season. He also found a new team. Still looking Tsgabu Grmay, Lukas Pöstlberger and Alexandre Balmer.
