Still a top team with 36 wins
Between 2011 and 2021, the Ineos Grenadiers team – formerly Sky – won a whopping 12 Grand Tours. Only in 2014 did the British team remain without a triumph during this period. Now they have been waiting for another success since Egan Bernal's overall Giro victory. There have been 8 Grand Tour winners since then - none wearing the Ineos Grenadiers jersey. The character of the team has long since changed. They are now chasing stage victories and achieving success in one-day races. thomas pidcock for example, Strade Bianche won in 2023. Stage victories were allowed, among other things Filippo Gana near Tirreno – Adriatico, ethan hayter on the Basque Country tour, Michal Kwiatkowski at the Tour de France and Elia Viviani celebrate at the Tour of Guangxi. The professionals from Ineos Greandiers were also often successful in the overall ranking of tours lasting a maximum of one week. The Tour of the Alps started Tao Geoghegan Hart, after before Daniel Felipe Martinez where Volta ao Algarve was at the top of the podium. Filippo Gana was able to celebrate overall victory at the Tour de Wallonie, Jonathan Manuel Narvaez on the Tour of Austria and Ben Tulett at the Tour of Norway. They were denied a big hit on the big national tours. Geraint Thomas narrowly missed the overall victory at the Giro d'Italia and Carlos Rodriguez the podium at the Tour de France. While the Briton is probably not far away from the end of his career, the Spaniard is still at the very beginning. At just 22 years old, he is considered one of the greatest racing talents in cycling.
2024: Well-known professionals leave Ineos Grenadiers
The numerous successes of the Ineos Grenadiers team in the recent past speak for themselves. Of course, the British team is still one of the strongest in the peloton. Nevertheless, the sports management longs to go back to the old days, when the big national tours were their profession. They finally want to have a potential Grand Tour winner in their own ranks again. That's why efforts were made to recruit Remco Evenepoel and Cian Uijtdebroeks in the fall of this year - in vain. The fans have to deal with the entrances Tobias Foss, Oscar Rodriguez and Andrew August satisfy. In return leaves with Tao Geoghegan Hart a Giro winner the team. Also the two tour drivers Pavel Shivakov and Daniel Felipe Martinez turn their backs on Ineos Grenadiers. Ben Tulett, Cameronwurf and Luke Plop complete the list of departures. All in all, we have to talk about a clear deterioration in the squad for 2024. But we certainly can't write off this strong team.
