Have you ever thought about overgloves?: Triban overgloves in the test

6 December 2023 by the editorial office

Triban overgloves

Triban overgloves in the test: Whether it's a daily ride or an extended weekend tour, when the weather is unsettled, we like to take a thin rain or wind jacket with us in our backpack to protect the upper body. Why shouldn't we do the same for our hands?

Decathlons House brand Triban offers gloves that can simply be pulled over normal gloves in rain, wind and cold. The concept is simple. The glove consists of a thin insulating layer and taped seams, similar to what we know from classic rain jackets. At the same time, the thin material structure allows the gloves to be folded into a very small pack size. For example, the overgloves can be stored in a jacket pocket and can be quickly retrieved when needed. A special highlight: the right glove has a small integrated pocket that can accommodate both gloves.

Triban overgloves: Hardly noticeable and yet very effective

Developed by passionate racing cyclists, the Triban overgloves for road traffic are equipped with large reflectors. The fit is very generous, which means they can also be pulled over thicker gloves. If you're looking for a tailor-made solution, it's best to go to the store to find the perfect size with your gloves. However, it should be borne in mind that a precisely fitting overglove is more difficult to put on and take off.

When you're out and about, the overcoats can be put on quickly and easily thanks to the donning aid on the shaft. The little and ring fingers share a compartment. The additional glove is then barely noticeable on the handlebars. The grip feeling is slightly reduced by the additional layer. Braking and shifting can also be continued almost unchanged. When it comes to weather protection, the overcoats show what they are intended for. Rain and wind have no chance. However, the body's own heat quickly builds up under the gloves. Depending on the ambient temperature and intensity, this can be a desired effect to prevent your hands from cooling down. But it also quickly happens that the heat build-up becomes too great and your hands become sweaty.
