Ortlieb Repair Week: Repair instead of buying new

29 November 2023 by Florian Nowak

News: The German manufacturer Ortlieb has been living the topic of sustainability for years, but for the producer of bikepacking equipment, bags, backpacks and the like, not only sustainable production is important, but also a long service life of the products. To make this possible, Ortlieb focuses heavily on the topic of repairs. In contrast to Black Friday, the Ortlieb Repairweek was launched last year and would like to build on its success. For this there is a period of November 13rd to December 3st 40% discount on all repairs.

Ortlieb's repair service has been very popular since the company was founded in 1982. Around 18.000 products are repaired at the Heilsbronn location every year and the aim is to continue this trend. To this end, Ortlieb is constantly expanding its repair service and training its partners to become repair professionals. In addition to specialist retailers, many sales partners worldwide are able to repair defects on site and thus avoid unnecessary shipping routes. In the core market in Germany, 53 dealers are currently trained to carry out repairs to bags on site. In order to make repairs as easy as possible, all Ortlieb products are designed so that individual parts are easy to replace and the bags and backpacks therefore have an even longer lifespan.

The Ortlieb Repair Week

As part of Black Friday, Ortlieb has decided to continue to focus on the topic of sustainability and its repairs and not to focus on quick consumption. The manufacturer has therefore announced Ortlieb Repairweek for the first time in 2022. In 2023, the manufacturer of waterproof backpacks, bike bags and travel bags would like to focus on this type of waste of resources with its partners worldwide and, in collaboration with service dealers, is even offering a 40% discount on repairs between November 13.11th and December 03.12.2023rd, XNUMX.

More than Florian Nowak

Florian Nowak is a professional cyclist at the EuropeTour level and has competed in many international races. At the German championship in 2017, he was the best non-WorldTour professional in 7th place and was therefore able to recommend himself for the Tour de L'Avenir and the World Championships. But he doesn't just feel comfortable on the racing bike, he's also always drawn to off-road terrain. In addition to sport, he works on his second mainstay and has completed his business administration studies at the LMU Munich.
