Test: Specialized Dissident II: Light, modern and damn stylish full face helmet

10 October 2023 by Patrick Storm

Specialized is no longer just known for high-quality bicycles. The Californian brand skillfully produces components, clothing and protective equipment that live up to the brand's standards. The Dissident II full face helmet is no exception. But can the 470 euro carbon/polycarbonate part do more than just look good? Here you can find the information.

When Specialized presented the new Dissident, our mountain bike-oriented editorial team was immediately impressed by the look. And when Dennis from Specialized asked us at the Bike Festival in Riva if we wanted to test the new helmet, nothing stood in the way of an extensive bike park season.

Specialized Dissident 2 – Key Facts:

  • 3 layer construction: carbon shell, polycarbonate, EPS.
  • 5 different EPS inserts: tailored for optimal performance at your specific point.
  • Mips Evolve Solution: with fabric bag attachments to reduce wobbling and creaking.
  • Antimicrobial padding kit with ionic+® technology: Replacement crown pads and two sizes of emergency quick-release cheek pads included.
  • Optimized ventilation through air inlet behind the visor.
  • Sizes: S, M, L, XL (4 shell sizes).
  • Travel bag included.
  • D-ring buckle.
  • Weight: 1040g (Size XL)

Test: Specialized Dissident II

After many laps in the local bike park and in the alpine terrain of the Alps, we can say that we are not only impressed by the look of the Dissident II. Comfort, fit, workmanship and performance leave nothing to be desired. On top of that, the helmet is extremely light at 1040g and can easily keep up with the competition, which is somewhat stronger in the segment.
