The Uvex Urban Planet: City helmet made from recycled organic materials

The innovative city helmet comes with hardshell technology made from recycled, bio-based materials and is therefore not only good for the environment, but in the worst case scenario it also provides ideal protection in everyday life.

The Uvex Urban Planet was designed to be sustainable right from the start and was completely redesigned. The stylish city helmet offers numerous safety features, with the focus primarily on hardshell technology, which, in combination with the EPS inner shell, is impact-resistant on the outside and shock-absorbing on the inside.

To ensure optimal, individual adjustment to head circumference and head shape, the Uvex Urban Planet comes with the 3D IAS 3.0 system including height adjustment. The aim is to ensure appropriate comfort and protection through a pleasant fit. When it comes to comfort, the aerodynamic ventilation design with 14 ventilation channels offers an additional benefit that should be worth its weight in gold, especially on warm summer days in the city. In order to be practical even in stressful everyday life, the anatomically shaped Uvex monomatic comfort closure allows the Uvex Urban Planet to be opened with one hand.

Without making any compromises in terms of design and safety, the goal when developing the Uvex city helmet was to pursue a completely sustainable and resource-saving concept. The result is a bio-based helmet hard shell as well as an interior and webbing made from recycled material.

For this reason, it was also decided to make sustainability activities visible to the outside world through a new sustainability label called “protecting planet”. It identifies the products that can be classified as particularly sustainable and are sustainable from development to production to packaging or distribution. In addition, the majority of all Uvex products have always been produced “Made in Germany” at the locations in Fürth, Lederdorn and Obernzell, where traditional craftsmanship is combined with the latest technology.
