The Bosch EasyPump cordless compressor pump in the test: Haste makes waste

September 25, 2023 by Andrew Waldera

Bosch EasyPump

Compressor pump test: The Bosch EasyPump promises to inflate bicycle tires without any effort. The compact design hides beautiful detailed solutions such as the valve attachments housed in the handle. But the cordless compressor pump is also not short on innovative features when it comes to technology. Our test shows what these are and how the product performs in practical use.

Bosch EasyPump

Bosch EasyPump: structure and functions

The Bosch EasyPump impresses with its ergonomic design, which ensures a good and relaxed hand position when working. The most important values such as the current air pressure, the desired maximum pressure and the status of the battery are shown on the easy-to-read LCD display. The display can be set to either bar, PSI or KPA. The pump can be controlled with four buttons at the top; it is switched on and off using a separate button. A permanently installed 3,6 volt lithium-ion battery is responsible for the power supply and can be conveniently charged via USB-C. The charging cable is included, but no adapter. The accommodation of the valve attachments in the handle is very nicely done. Other features of the Bosch cordless compressor pump include a switchable LED light. The maximum output volume is specified as 10 l/min, the maximum pressure as 10,3 bar or 150 PSI.

The compressor pump in the test

In terms of handling, the Bosch EasyPump, which weighs 422 grams, is very uncomplicated. This applies not only to the good grip, but also to the intuitive control, which is almost self-explanatory. The display is very precise and the adjustable target value makes work even easier. The textile hose, which can be rotated through 360°, is flexible enough to allow the valve attachment to be easily opened even on less accessible valves. Unfortunately, turning off the valve results in slightly falsified values, as some air always escapes. Great praise goes to the autostop function, which automatically stops the pumping process when the desired target pressure is reached. This really makes sense, as the pump continues to run automatically after the pumping process has started and can therefore be put down. In view of the times that are sometimes necessary for filling, this is an almost indispensable feature. However, the Bosch EasyPump can take its time: the 3,6 volt lithium-ion battery lasts a surprisingly long time.

Measured values: Duration of inflating a 700x23C tire with the Bosch EasyPump

  • 4 bar: 47 seconds
  • 8 bar: 2:24 minutes
