Bicycle tire lever test: In our big Velomotion tire lever test, the tire levers from Shimano's own brand PRO should of course not be missing. According to the manufacturer, their optimized shape ensures easy handling when mounting and dismounting tires. We took a close look at the set of three.
PRO Tire Levers: First impression
For just under 6 euros, the buyer receives a set with three tire levers made from POM. The material is a high molecular weight thermoplastic. With a weight of 11 grams per lever, the 114 millimeter long Tire Levers are quite light and therefore appeal to cyclists who pay attention to every gram. The shovel is designed relatively discreetly, the spoke hook has a special fixation recess. The grip area structured on both sides ensures optimal grip. The convenient option of plugging the levers together was also included.
The bicycle tire levers in the test
Despite their compact size, the bicycle tire levers fit comfortably in the hand. The structured grip area ensures a good grip, and the rounded edges allow for a comfortable grip. Advantages that unfortunately fade into the background, especially with stubborn tires. The reason for this is the discreetly designed shovel, which can be easily pushed under the tire bead, but always slips out when levered. The material is quite soft and does not allow the use of high leverage forces. The spoke hook, on the other hand, is well designed and can be positioned reliably and securely thanks to the fixing recess.
