Test: With the Uvex Revolt Mips, the German manufacturer from Fürth offers an exciting Vario model for bikers, which is said to be made for all bike adventures with a removable chin bar, optimal adjustment options and many other details. We tested this and put the Uvex Revolt with Mips technology to the test.
What at first glance looks like a normal full-face helmet is actually the new Vario helmet from Uvex. Thanks to the simply integrated, removable chin bar, you can adapt the helmet to the area of use on the Uvex Revolt Mips or be ready for downhill in a matter of seconds after climbing.
The Uvex Revolt consists of a multi-inmould construction and, as the name suggests, features Mips technology for even better protection in the event of a fall. Since a helmet only really protects if it has the right fit, the Revolt has the adjustable Uvex anatomic IAS system and the anatomically shaped Uvex Wing, which enables optimal adjustment to the head circumference. The main helmet is also pulled down far on the sides and inside, which should provide additional protection.
To ensure that, in addition to the important protective functions, you also have enough comfort while riding, the Uvex Revolt is equipped with 16 ventilation openings in the main helmet and 3 openings in the chin bar. Another feature is that the padding in the chin bar can be quickly removed for additional air circulation. Extremely valuable for us, as it made the climbing passages much more pleasant.
But let's get to the main feature of the Uvex Vario helmet, because, as already mentioned, it is particularly characterized by the removable chin bar. Using a simple mechanism on the inside of the bracket, you can easily remove it at the push of a button, even when it is on. Reassembling the bracket requires a little more concentration, but after a few practice sessions we managed to reattach it even with the helmet on. Basically, this mechanism works without any problems and is easy to use. Thumbs up for that!
Unfortunately, there are a few deductions in our test for the fixed shield and the recess provided for the glasses, as not all Googles fit here and the helmet can therefore press.
