Bicycle tire lever test: The XLC range includes a promising three-part tire lever set under the unadorned name TO-S59. The optics certainly deserve as much attention as the entire structure. The steel core is surrounded by a plastic cover, which means that the lever is intended to ensure that the user works very efficiently and is gentle on the material.
General information about the manufacturer
In 2003, the Accell Group launched its own brand for bicycle components, XLC (x-cellent bike components). First, the XLC parts were installed as original equipment on bicycles from well-known Accell brands. Since 2005, the brand has been distributed through the Winora Group, a subsidiary of the Accell Group. In addition to bicycle parts, XLC's portfolio today also includes accessories and clothing for the bicycle sector.
XLC Tire Levers TO-S59: First impression
The XLC TO-S59 Tire Lever impresses with an innovative design, which allows a deep insight into the inside of the tire lever. Both the "viewing window" embedded in the plastic cover and the holes placed for better grip reveal the generously dimensioned steel core. At the same time, the viewing window allows the set of 3 to be clipped together in a practical way. The chunky design, which gives a very robust impression, is also striking. This is followed by the stable acting spoke hook.
The bicycle tire levers in the test
The seemingly indestructible look is not deceptive. Even large lever forces are not able to lure the XLC tire levers out of their reserve. The high dimensional stability and the good feel enable efficient power transmission. Thanks to the plastic coating of the steel core, material-friendly work is also guaranteed. Due to the thick design of the shovel, however, another problem arises. This can only be pushed under tight tire beads with reluctance, which means that more effort is required.
