Featuring a full carbon frame and ultimate adjustability: GIANT unveils the new Glory downhill bike

June 6, 2023 by Joseph Kucher

Press Release: The new Glory Advanced was designed for the World Cup Downhill-racer from GIANT It is the first time a Glory in full carbon-Construction comes on the market and it's supposed to be lighter, stiffer and be faster than all previous generations. Now is the Glory available.
The fifth generation of the Glory Advanced features new Maestro rear suspension and multiple flip chips to adjust geometry, rear wheel size, fit and positioning

With the new Glory Advanced, Giant has introduced a revolutionary downhill bike. Designed specifically for World Cup downhill racers, this bike marks a significant advance in performance and adjustability. With a full carbon frame, the Glory Advanced is lighter, stiffer and faster than all previous generations and sets new standards for DH performance.

The Glory Advanced was developed from scratch and is based on a handcrafted Advanced carbon frame. Weighing just 3200 grams (frame size S/M), it offers incredible lightweight construction without compromising on rigidity. Through the use of advanced technologies and materials, the Glory Advanced is Giant's first full-carbon downhill bike.

The Legends limited-edition frameset celebrates GIANT's DH heritage, which includes pioneers from the early years of the sport and multiple world champions.

A standout feature of the Glory Advanced is its ultimate adjustability. With three flip chips and different positions for geometry, handling and rear wheel size, riders can adapt the bike to their individual riding style and terrain. You have the option to choose between a 29-inch and a 27,5-inch rear wheel and adjust the ride height, head angle, seat angle, wheelbase and chainstay length to suit your preferences. This flexibility allows riders to tailor the Glory Advanced to their needs and enjoy the best possible riding experience.

The two-position flip chip on the rear dropout changes the wheelbase and rear center of gravity. The short position provides a faster, more agile ride, while the long position lengthens the wheelbase and rear triangle center point for better control at high speeds.
The modular insert in the area of the headset allows the rider to adjust the reach in 5 mm increments. In the short position, the cockpit is closer to the driver and provides a more upright position. The mid position offers a neutral reach and the long position ensures a stretched rider position that conveys a stable ride.
The flip chip on the upper swingarm of the Maestro suspension system has three positions to adjust handling. The high position increases ground clearance and steepens the angle of the head tube and seat tube. The mid position is the most versatile. And the low position is a good choice for the steepest, most technical descents.

The new Maestro rear suspension system with 200mm of travel provides a smooth and active ride, while the Advanced Carbon rocker link increases strength and stiffness. The combination of rear suspension and a 203mm fork absorbs shock on the trail and ensures optimal performance and control, even on the most demanding DH courses.

Jan Cees Schellenbach, GIANT Category Manager - Mountain, emphasizes the importance of this development: “This is the first full carbon Glory we have ever made for consumers and it is a significant step up from the previous generation. We have developed new ways to customize performance and handling for different riders and terrains.”

The Glory Advanced has already achieved impressive results in prestigious races. Rémi Thirion, driver of the GIANT Factory Off-Road Team, achieved several top 10 finishes in the World Cup with the Glory Advanced prototype models. Luke Meier-Smith even won the Australian Elite Men's National DH Championship on a pre-production model of the new Glory Advanced.

The Glory Advanced offers ambitious riders the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of downhill mountain biking at the highest level. With its impressive design and innovative features, this bike is ready to set new standards.
