Tour de Suisse #1: Küng gets the yellow jersey in the time trial

June 11, 2023 by Michael Behringer

Küng Tour de Suisse time trial

Cycling: Stefan Küng won the start of the Tour de Suisse. The Swiss triumphed in the battle against the clock and will wear the yellow jersey tomorrow.

Küng races away from everyone

A better start could have been Stefan Kung (Groupama – FDJ) in the Tour de Suisse. The Swiss won the 12,7-kilometre time trial in Einsiedeln and will therefore be wearing the overall leader's yellow jersey tomorrow. He managed this triumph despite enormously strong competition. So he expelled the two Belgians Remco Evenepoel (Soudal – Quick Step) and wout van aert (Jumbo – Visma) finished second and third with six and ten seconds respectively.

Tour de Suisse 2023: time trials at the beginning and at the end

The 86th Tour de Suisse takes the pros over a total of eight stages. It ends on Sunday with another time trial in Abtwil. Traditionally, the most important tour in Switzerland is a hilly multi-stage race. Tomorrow, however, there could also be a mass sprint in Nottwil. The king's stage is the fourth section over 152,5 kilometers from Monthey to Leukerbad.
