Cycling is in shock. After his fall at the Tour de Suisse yesterday Gino Mader died in hospital today. The only 26-year-old Swiss fell on the descent from the Albula Pass and had to be revived. This accident happened 6,3 kilometers before the stage finish in a long curve, as a result of which Gino Mäder fell down a slope with Magnus Sheffield, who also fell. Today his team Bahrain - Victorious confirmed that they had to say goodbye at the hospital around 11:30 am.

Gino was an exceptional athlete, an example of dedication, a valuable member of our team and the wider cycling community. His talent and passion for the sport inspired us all.”
