Events: Attention Gravel fans, because on June 3rd, 2023 the largest international Gravel event starts. What's special about it? Everyone can be there and start right on their doorstep. The whole thing is called Rebound and takes place in cooperation with former WorldTour rider Laurens ten Dam, Shimano and Strava. We asked you what this event is really all about and what you have to consider.
The idea for Rebound came up during the first phase of the Covid lockdown. At that time, no cycle races were possible and in almost all of Europe you were only allowed to go outside if really necessary or for sport and alone or in small groups. One of the most important gravel races on the calendar to date, the Dirty Kanza, had to be canceled like so many other events. The actual highlight of the year for ex-professional Laurens ten Dam could not be denied. So the Dutchman and his partners decided to create a community event called Dirty Canceled and also to involve other cyclists.
After the race and event calendar returned to normal this year at the latest, the aim was to offer the cycling community a similar experience. This is how Rebound was born, based on the earlier Dirty Kanza, now Unbound.
What is rebound?
As already mentioned, Rebound is set to become the world's largest gravel event. It is an event for all cyclists, regardless of gender, whether alone or in a group, whether fast or slow. The event takes place on June 3, 2023 from any starting point over a distance of 25 miles (40 km), 50 miles (80 km), 100 miles (160 km) or 200 miles (320 km) and should be over that much Guide Gravel as possible.
The rebound rules
- Saturday, June 3rd starting at 6.00 am sharp
- Complete a 25, 50, 100 or 200 mile gravel course
- Self catering with a maximum of two stops along the way
- Mandatory post-race celebration with photo evidence
- No fees, no time limit, just fun
You can register for the event via the recently live Rebound website and track and upload your ride accordingly with Strava. Great prizes will be raffled among all participants.
