Raffle Otinga Flip: Anyone who no longer wants to choose between a bicycle bag and a backpack will love the product of two young entrepreneurs - the flip combines both with clever functionality and has various positive properties. Do I take the bike bag or do I take the backpack? Cyclists are faced with this decision again and again. And Karl and Leander, two students from Aachen, also discovered during their year abroad in New Zealand that panniers are great for biking, but are otherwise not as comfortable to carry as a knapsack.
Otinga Flip: Clever idea, well implemented
Where most would just shrug their shoulders, the two boys first grabbed a pencil and paper and then grabbed grandma's sewing machine. A start-up competition, a crowdfunding campaign and an appearance in the "Lion's Den" later turned the idea into a product: the Flip from Otinga, the company of the two. The cuboid backpack with the roll-top closure holds between 26 and 34 liters and offers a laptop and valuables compartment on the inside and three outer pockets on the side - one of which is big enough for a bottle. The special feature of the Flip is of course hidden under its back: a flap fastened with all-round zip fasteners reveals either the padded shoulder straps (= backpack) or the carrier holder (= bike bag).
Well constructed, fairly manufactured
Switching between bike and back is child's play for the bag or user, and it's also quite practical: the exposed back of the luggage rack, which can be exposed to splashing water, is hidden when you convert the Flip into a backpack - you don't do that when carrying it his clothes dirty. The multifunctional container is made from solid, water-repellent materials by a manufacturer in Vietnam who is certified as a "Fair Wear Leader". A family business in Serbia has also been on board since last year. The young entrepreneurs also demonstrate a sense of responsibility when it comes to environmental impact: there is a CO for all products2-Compensation in cooperation with the organization Wilderness International.
