Evenepoel stays put for a long time

Around 155 kilometers before the finish of the fifth stage, the Giro d'Italia suffered a fall in the peloton. Only the repetition cleared up the spectators: A small dog had run through the main field. Some drivers had to apply their brakes. As a result, they fell on the rain-soaked road. A few professionals from the Soudal – Quick-Step team were hit, including them Remco Evenepoel. The Belgian World Champion lay on the ground for a long time before climbing onto his spare bike and chasing with his team-mates. The peloton waited for Evenepoel, who was then able to reestablish contact.

Doesn't the world champion feel good?

In the past few days there have been rumors that Remco Evenepoel is not feeling well. On yesterday fourth stage the Belgian often rode at the back of the peloton while his team-mates controlled the pace at the front. He also dressed much warmer than the other drivers. Today, the world champion was again mostly to be seen in the back of the peloton. After his fall, he stuck his thumb up for the camera, but his facial expressions at least seemed to indicate that the fall had caused him pain. Experience has shown that Grand Tours often catch colds, which the drivers try to hide from the competition for as long as possible. We can therefore not expect official reports about a possible illness.

‍♂️ | Oh no, a hond op de away. En Remco Evenepoel is one of the biggest slachtoffers!. Hij zit weer op de fiets, maar hoe groot is the pity bij de top favorite?
