Kragh Andersen wins after a long sprint

2x Feldberg, 3x Mammolshainer stitch - that was the hard program of the 60th edition of Eschborn - Frankfurt. Accordingly, a breakaway group was able to assert itself this year. The winner was not determined in a mass sprint like in previous years. After 203,8 kilometers he could Soren Kragh Andersen (Alpecin – Deceuninck) in the sprint ahead of a ten-strong breakaway group Patrick Conrad (Bora – hansgrohe) prevail. The Dane started the sprint early but didn't let anyone pass him. Previously, the race was decided at the 1,5 kilometer mark when the peloton was out of air and at the same time George Zimmerman (Intermarche – Wanty – Gobert) attacked in the leading group.

At first, a breakaway group around the German Max Walscheid determined the race. She already had a lead of over seven minutes, but was caught with 90 kilometers to go. When the Mammolshainer Stich had to be defeated again, the sprinters let go again. A ten-person lead group then formed, which was ultimately to determine the victory among themselves. The Austrians were there Patrick Conrad (Bora – hansgrohe), as well as the Swiss Marc Hirschi (UAE) and the two Germans George Steinhauser (EF Education – EasyPost) and George Zimmerman (Intermarche-Wanty-Gobert). His teammate Lorenzo Rota (Intermarche-Wanty-Gobert), Soren Kragh Andersen (Alpecin – Deceuninck), Alessandro Fedeli (Q36.5), Martin Marcellusi (Green Project - Bardiani - CSF - Faizanè), Ben Hermans (Israel Premier Tech) and Stephen Williams (Israel Premier Tech) completed the group.
