PRODUCT NEWS: The light Cross-Country Fully Pivot Mach 4 SL comes in a revised version and convinces with weight reduction and revised geometry.
The new Pivot Mach 4 SL
280 g less frame weight with a Cross Country bike? That sounds like a decent reduction - thanks to Pivot's patented carbon molding process, this was possible. The new bike in size S with dropper post now weighs less than 10,5 kg. Chris Cocalis, Founder and CEO of Pivot comments: “With the Mach 4 SL we're getting a World Cup capable weight with a chassis that won't slow you down. The dw-Link system impresses with its rear end, generates traction when going uphill and doesn't skimp on efficiency when sprinting. A balancing act that a bike with flexing stays cannot achieve. The new Mach 4 SL is the faster bike.”
As you already know from the predecessor, the frame can be ridden with a 100 or 120 mm suspension fork. The Worldcup version has 95 or 103 mm of spring travel thanks to a flip chip on the rocker, the Trail version has 106 or 115 mm accordingly. So while the Mach 4 SL is absolutely competitive as a competition bike, the trail version is aimed more at sporty people who are looking for a light cross-country fully for extended, fast tours outside of competitions.

Each trim level is available with either Sram or Shimano components. So every biker can ride his personal preferences - a very sensible approach from Pivot.
The geometry of the Pivot Mach 4 SL
Thanks to the wide range of frame sizes with a lowered top tube, people between 147 cm and 200 cm tall will find a suitable bike, according to the manufacturer. Pivot has adjusted the damper settings to the lower weight of the biker, especially with the small frame sizes, in order to achieve a consistent riding experience for all frame sizes. Compared to its predecessor, Pivot has designed the seat tube angle to be around 1,5° steeper, while the head angle has become around 0,8° slacker. In addition, the reach of the Mach 4 SL is now slightly shorter in all frame sizes. This should make the seating position a little more upright and comfortable - without sacrificing climbing properties.
