Cycling: Jonas Vingegaard has after the yesterday's third stage also won today's fourth. The Danish winner of the Tour de France was able to narrowly beat the Spaniard Mikel Landa in the sprint for the day's win and thus further extend his lead in the overall standings.
Vingegaard attacks and sprints to victory
After 175,7 kilometers it is also allowed in Santurtzi jonas vingegaard (Jumbo – Visma) cheer. The overall leader from Denmark won the two-man sprint for the day's victory just ahead of the Spaniard Mikel Landa (Bahrain-Victorious). On the final climb, the reigning tour winner launched his attack relatively early. Only Mikel Landa could follow the man in yellow. The two then worked well together so that they were initially able to extend their lead over their pursuers. In the last few kilometers, however, they began to play poker, so that the pursuers came dangerously close again. Before that, Jonas Vingegaard had already sprinted by three bonus seconds, so that he now confidently leads the overall classification anyway.
Schmid & Gall are once again strong
The podium completes the fourth stage of the Tour of the Basque Country of the Swiss Mauro Schmid (Soudal – Quick-Step), who is ranked 20th overall. It looks even better for Felix Gall (AG2R – Citroën). The Austrian crossed the finish line in eighth place today and is therefore in 13th place overall. We find one place behind him Emmanuel Buchman (Bora – hansgrohe). The German crossed the finish line in eleventh place.
