The heart of the Platzhirsch urban e-bike is undoubtedly the tubular steel frame made of chrome-molybdenum steel with organic frame geometry. The entire production process, from the drawing of the tube profiles to the 3D construction of the connections and the frame production, takes place entirely in Germany. The special Softride structure of the frame is intended to compensate for weight forces and uneven ground while driving and ensure a high level of comfort. According to the manufacturer, the conscious decision to use steel as a material was made taking sustainability aspects into account. Steel is not only much easier and more flexible to process, it is also easier to repair and recycle than aluminum or carbon.
Both the rear wheel hub motor and the 250 Wh battery come from the German electric drive specialist MAHLE ebikemotion. The drive generates up to 40 Newton meters of torque, and the system is controlled by the MAHLE ebikemotion iWoc Trio. Three power levels and the pushing aid can be conveniently activated from the handlebars. A toothed belt is used as a low-maintenance alternative to the chain.
