Cycling: Lennard Kämna has taken the lead at Tirreno – Adriatico. The German finished today's small hill climb in the first group and thus takes over the blue jersey from Filippo Ganna. The stage win in Tortoreto went to Primoz Roglic.
Kämna at the same time as winner Roglic
Great success for Lennard Kamna (Bora – hangrohe). The German conquers the blue jersey on the fourth stage of Tirreno Adriatico. In the short final climb, he always stayed on the rear wheel of the top riders, so that he didn't lose any time in the end. The previous overall leader Filippo Gana (Ineos Grenadiers) already broke at the beginning of the climb. After 218 kilometers from Greccio to Tortoreto, some of which were very bumpy, a relatively large group sprinted. The Slovenian Primois Roglic (Jumbo – Visma) got ahead of the Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal – Quick-Step) and the British Adam Yates (UAE) enforce. Roglic seemed extremely confident and strong. After his crash at the Vuelta a Espana, Tirreno – Adriatico is his first race of this new season.
Van Aert & Pidcock crash
Unfortunately, two absolute co-favorites could not take part in the fight for the day's victory. wout van aert (Jumbo – Visma) and thomas pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) fell a few kilometers before the start of the final climb and lost contact with the peloton. While Pidcock was only helping and falling behind, Van Aert wanted to slip past him because he would have been the captain for his team today. After the fall, the Belgian apologized to the Brit, probably realizing immediately that it was his fault.
