Paris – Nice #2: Pedersen sprints ahead of Kooij to stage win

March 6, 2023 by Michael Behringer

Pedersen Mads Paris Nice

Cycling: Mads Pedersen won the second stage from Paris – Nice. The Dane was able to prevail in front of the Dutchman Olav Kooij in the mass sprint. Tade Pogacar was able to secure bonus seconds again in the intermediate sprint.

Pedersen does better this time

Yesterday still had to Mads pedersen (Trek – Segafredo) angry about third place. Today he did better. The Dane won the second stage in a bunch sprint ahead of the Dutchman Olav Kooij (Jumbo – Visma) and his compatriot Magnus Court (EF Education - EasyPost). As expected, the 163,7-kilometer section from Bazainville to Fontainebleau ended in a classic Sprint Royale, in which Bora – hansgrohe's preparations didn't go well. A mass sprint awaits us in Dampierre-en-Burly tomorrow as well, before a mountain finish is on the agenda for Wednesday. Then it will Tadej pogacar (UAE) have to show again in the mountains. So far - yesterday and today - he has already secured bonus seconds in the intermediate sprints. As a result, he is already second in the overall standings behind Mads Pedersen.
