Bike light in the test: Trelock LS 760 I-GO Vision - handy & practical

February 10, 2023 by Florian Strigel

Trelock LS 760 I-GO Vision

TEST: The Trelock LS 760 I-GO Vision is characterized by its ease of use in a handy format. The bicycle light with StVZO approval convinces in everyday use.

Test of the Trelock LS 760 I-GO Vision - all information & data on the bike light at a glance

The LS 760 I-GO Vision is the strongest with 100 lux bike light with built-in battery from Trelock. she is StVZO-compliant, which means it is designed to be glare-free like car headlights. Its LED shines downwards and is deflected forwards by a specially developed reflector. The housing of the bicycle lamp is made of sturdy plastic and makes a robust impression. It is attached to the handlebars using a clamp with a ratchet system and clamping lever. The LS 760 I-GO Vision snaps firmly and securely onto this clamp using a snap lock. Nice feature: the bicycle lamp can also be used as a power bank. It is particularly practical that it already has a modern USB-C connection. Unfortunately, Trelock does not offer a replacement battery - however, according to their own statements, they are very accommodating. But if the battery has reached the end of its life after a few years, there is no way to exchange it. Not even for experienced hobbyists, because unfortunately the case does not have a screw to open it.

Accessories & Extension

If you only want to use one bicycle lamp for several bicycles, you can purchase another handlebar mount (ZL 760) from Trelock for €3,99 each. There is also a handlebar mount with screw attachment (ZL 801) and a mount for mounting on the fork (ZL 600), also for €3,99 each. This makes the LS 760 I-GO Vision system very versatile and can be expanded very cheaply.

Test: The Trelock LS 760 I-GO Vision in use

assembly and fastening

The LS 760 I-GO Vision is mounted using a handlebar clamp with a ratchet system. This is simply plugged together - it is important to have sufficient pressure so that the clamp sits firmly on the handlebars. The system is finally locked in place by moving a clamping lever. Thanks to the simple, intuitive process, the bike light is ready to use in under a minute, even when used for the first time. The lamp is now simply attached and snaps into place neatly. It is released by a push button on its underside. This process is also simple and intuitive and is unproblematic even when wearing gloves. The LS 760 I-GO Vision sits firmly and securely in the holder - absolutely nothing wobbles or moves. So nothing stands in the way of driving on forest roads. Depending on the route, the lamp can be turned a few degrees to the left or right; for example, to illuminate the edge of the road. The only annoying point for our testers: The strap of the ratchet system protrudes significantly. However, if you do not want to mount the bicycle lamp on a thicker handlebar, you can simply cut it off.

The holder consists of a plastic ratchet with a clamping lever and is securely fastened with sufficient pretension.

Trelock LS 760 I-GO Vision Display
The display shows everything at a glance: light level on the left and in the middle, battery level on the right, light duration at the top and time at the bottom.

Service

Operating the bicycle lamp is also intuitive. Its brightness can be adjusted in five stages using a plus and minus button. If the plus button is pressed for one second, the LS 760 I-GO Vision switches on at the lowest brightness level. Accordingly, the lamp is switched off by pressing and holding the minus button. Incidentally, the operation of the buttons also works well with gloves. A bright display provides comprehensive information: In addition to the light level in the form of bars and numbers, the battery level and the remaining light time are displayed - and the time as well. The level function is also interesting: the best lighting angle of the lamp is set using the display without dazzling other road users.

battery & runtime

The empty battery is charged via a USB-C connection. This is protected by a small rubber cover - as a result, handling is a bit fiddly. It is also important to know: The LS 760 I-GO Vision comes without a charger; only the appropriate charging cables are included. Trelock assumes that everyone has suitable chargers anyway – for smartphones, for example. For ecological reasons, this assumption makes perfect sense. Accordingly, the charging time of the battery depends on the charger used - for common devices it should be between 2 and 5 hours. If you want to know exactly, you can loading time calculator use. The burn time of 2:15 hours at full power and 10 hours at the lowest power is more than enough for most applications. According to Trelock, even at -10° C the burn time should still be over 2 hours at full power, which would be a pretty good value.

The light field of the Trelock LS 760 I-GO Vision

The LS 760 I-GO Vision illuminates the route surprisingly homogeneously and brightly. The Trelock bike light creates a slightly brighter area at a distance of about 15 meters. This is very advantageous when driving faster, because the visual guidance is also located at about this distance. Especially in curves with tighter radii, we would like a broader illumination of the road, because it gets dark quickly here. The same also applies to the rural area, which is not brightened by the ambient light. The area directly in front of the front wheel up to a distance of about 5 meters is a bit dark. It is also marked by fragmented light, which can sometimes be a bit disturbing. Nevertheless, the Trelock LS 760 I-GO Vision is a top-level StVZO bicycle lamp.

The light levels in direct comparison

Light field Trelock LS 760 I-GO Vision
5 brightness levels: The light field shows a homogeneous, sufficient illumination of the route with hard transitions at the edges. The close-up area in front of the front wheel remains somewhat dark. Our structure: Orange and blue cones alternate at a distance of 5 meters. The width between the cars roughly corresponds to a federal highway.
Trelock LS 760 I-GO Vision light fragmentation
The area directly in front of the front wheel (here our camera & tripod mounts) is characterized by light fragmentation and is a bit dark in between.

The handling and operation of a bicycle light can hardly be easier and more intuitive. The Trelock LS 760 I-GO Vision can also be operated well with gloves and is therefore also ideally suited for winter use. The roadway is illuminated brightly and homogeneously, but the light field is a bit narrow for tight bends. The area in front of the front wheel could be brighter and more homogeneous. But all this is whining at a high level - the Trelock LS 760 I-GO Vision is still a very good StVZO bicycle lamp. The lamp compensates for its minor weaknesses in the light field with its excellent usability. The burn time at full power is good at 2:15 h and completely sufficient for most journeys. The system can be expanded very cheaply for use on several bikes. It's a pity that Trelock doesn't offer a replacement battery - when the battery has reached the end of its life, the lamp has also reached its end of life. Here we wish for a different, ecological approach.
