Product news: As part of the so-called Aero Initiative, in which the aerodynamics and performance of all details of various products are put to the test, Poc is also launching new cycling glasses. With the Poc Propel comes a new goggle that aims to improve aerodynamics and performance for everyone.
Poc's Aero Initiative
Aerodynamics have always been an important part of Poc's DNA. For this reason, the decision was made to start a so-called aero initiative in order to re-evaluate and redefine performance and aerodynamics.
Poc Propel - The aerodynamic glasses
The Poc Propel glasses were specially developed for competitive sports and should convince with unprecedented aerodynamic values. Especially the large glass and the low weight, as well as a unique field of vision want to make a statement and allow the Poc Propel to stand out from the crowd. However, in order to stand out from the crowd in terms of performance, the Propel was specially optimized for the aerodynamic advantage. As a result of numerous CFD tests, the Poc Propel features a unique lens and temple design that reduces drag and allows airflow to interact with riders and their body position. Accordingly, the goggles have been designed to sit closer to the face and are fitted with precise side panels that direct air away from the rider's ears. This precise management of airflow brings aerodynamic benefits as air is directed over the shoulders, creating a smoother airflow and improving the aerodynamic profile.
The Propel's frame is made from Bio-Grilamid, and the nose bridge is available in three sizes so all riders can find a comfortable and secure fit. The temples are adjustable both in length and in the hold and thus ensure absolute comfort. A clear replacement lens is supplied as standard for even more clarity. The whole thing is available at a price of 249 euros.
"When developing our Aero initiative, we wanted to explore the aerodynamic potential of goggles. We know that the world of performance cycling is about marginal advances and that every watt saved can make a difference. We continuously tested with CFD to explore and refine our ideas. The results have prompted us to design the glasses in such a way that the body and the position of the driver are in the foreground. The result is the most aerodynamic eyewear we've ever made.” – Tilda Håll, Eyewear Manager at POC
Poc Propel – Used on the Tour Down Under
The Propel made its pro debut at the 2023 Tour Down Under, where both EF Education First teams used the new goggles.
