Product news / MTB: After more than a decade, Hope introduces the F22 flat pedal, the successor to the F20. Even if a lot has stayed the same, the British have completely revised their noble pedal in some places - especially the shape.
The products from cult manufacturer Hope are not only known for their fine milling art and genuine British craftsmanship, but also for their durability. All of this also applied to the Hope F20 flat pedals: They were introduced more than ten years ago and have remained untouched to this day. Why change something that works reliably? Now, after a decade, Hope has gained enough experience to send the venerable F20 into its well-deserved retirement and to present a successor with the Hope F22.

The biggest change compared to its predecessor is the completely redesigned platform. Of course, it is made of milled aluminum again, but has grown significantly in terms of surface area. In addition, their double concave and asymmetrical shape should ensure better contact with the shoe. The 22 pins per pedal now have a classic Allen head: Not only are they much easier to replace, it is also easier to change to a different length than with the grub screws that are otherwise frequently used.
When it comes to the inner workings, a lot has been taken over from the predecessor, since the construction has proven itself over many years in terms of maintenance and durability. The three industrial bearings and a plain bush can be removed and replaced, as can the seals used. The axle itself has been revised and is now more resistant to shocks, for example if you get stuck on a stone with the pedal.

The 360 gram light Hope F22 flat pedals are now available in specialist shops - at 180 euros they are quite expensive. However, if they can keep up with their predecessors in terms of longevity, the chic pedals could be a worthwhile investment, especially for frequent drivers.
