Cycling events: It's finally here. The new cycling season on the road can begin. We look at the dates in the coming weeks - also in cyclocross.
The Tour Down Under will take place again in 2023
After the Tour Down Under had to be canceled in the past two years due to the corona pandemic, it can finally be held again in 2023. From January 17th to 22nd, the pros will be in Australia. This time the tour even begins with a prologue, but we look in vain for Willunga Hill. Therefore, the Tour Down Under this year will probably be an affair for all-rounders. All stages have slight elevations, sometimes even short, toxic climbs. Anyone who is already in Australia will probably stay a week longer, because the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race will be held on January 29th. The only two World Tour races take place in Australia at the beginning of the season. But also on other continents - if not in the WorldTour - people are already warming up. The Mallorca Challenge and the GP Cycliste de Marseille attract riders in Europe. The Tropicale Amissa Bongo is the highlight in Africa and well-known professionals compete against each other in South America at the Vuelta a San Juan.

Preparing for the Cyclocross World Championship
In cyclocross, weeks before the world championships, everything revolves around the highlight of the year. The rainbow jerseys will be awarded in the Netherlands on February 4th and 5th respectively. Defending champion Thomas Pidcock will not be there for the men. The Briton decided not to start because he wanted to prepare for the classic road cycling season. He is also deliberately avoiding a fight against Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert, both of whom would like to regain the crown of the world's best. But in January it's all about valuable points in the World Cup and other competitions, both for the women and for the men. The national championships will also be held on January 14th and 15th.
