Cycling: Positioned 18th, Team BikeExchange – Jayco just barely managed to stay in the WorldTour. So that things will go a little better in the future, the Australian team has positioned itself a little more internationally for the future.
Yates & Groenewegen were worth their weight in gold
With a total of 22 victories, the BikeExchange – Jayco team can actually be satisfied with the 2022 season. However, they only managed nine of those at WorldTour level, and that was mostly down to two riders: Simon yates and Dylan Groenewegen. While the Briton was successful in the mountains and – surprisingly – in the time trial, the Dutchman found his old strength again in the sprint. His stage win in the Tour de France was particularly important. All in all, BikeExchange – Jayco presented itself in excellent condition at all three state tours. This resulted in three stage wins at the Giro, two at the Tour and one at the Vuelta.
The transfers make the team better
Despite a passable season, the BikeExchange - Jayco team management will not be completely satisfied with the year 2022. This is noticeable on the transfer market. Ten drivers go and ten drivers come - an unusually high turnover for the Australian team. What is particularly interesting is that eight Australians are leaving the team, but only three Australians join the team. Losing is particularly painful Caden Groves. The 23-year-old Australian has developed into a strong sprinter but fears he will never be the number one sprinter in the team. BikeExchange – Jayco got experience above all. Alessandro De Marchi is strong in the mountains while Zdenek Stybar and Lukas Postlberger strengthen the classic fleet. Considered a great sprinter talent Blake Quick. And a German was also committed: Felix Engelhardt is 22 and used to ride for the Tirol KTM Cycling Team.
