M-Wave Portable Clinic Bike Tool Review

Bicycle tool test: Chaos in your own workshop should finally be a thing of the past with the M-Wave Portable Clinic bicycle tool case. The tools, stowed compactly in one place, not only promise more order, but also quick access without a long search. We took a closer look at the "all-in-one" bicycle tool case.

General information about the manufacturer

The Messingschlager brand M-Wave offers a very extensive range of bicycle accessories for a wide variety of applications. According to the company, the portfolio is aimed at cyclists with high technical demands who are looking for innovative and high-quality materials. This should not only ensure quality control at the highest level, but also the enormous know-how of Messingschlager.

M-Wave Portable Clinic Tool Case: First Impression

The "all-in-one" bike tool case M-Wave Portable Clinic offers a variety of tools for bike repairs in a very compact space. Made of robust plastic, the case makes a good impression, which also continues when you look at the inner workings. The tools are clearly arranged and are held in place by the integrated plastic mold. Special recessed grips make it easier to remove the tool. However, the selection has some gaps – Torx keys are missing, among other things.

Processing and feel

The quality of the tools corresponds to the standard for hobby workshops - no more and no less. Above all, we have to criticize the flimsy chain tool, which looks a bit filigree overall and seems to be designed more for small doll hands. Individual tools such as the sprocket wrench with chain have a coating on the handle for non-slip gripping. Unfortunately, no value was placed on an ergonomic design. For an RRP of just under 130 euros, we clearly expect more - even if the "street price" is around 100 euros, we have to criticize the price-performance ratio.

Which repairs are possible and can the tool convince in use?

The tool supplied allows a wide range of applications, which, however, must not become too specific. Especially the owners of older bikes should enjoy tools like the headset wrench. The lack of Torx keys is absolutely unacceptable, especially on modern bikes. The adjustable wrench is nice, but only fulfills an alibi function for us in this suitcase. Even the tire levers, which can be found in this design in every hardware store, are not really able to inspire us.
