In addition to the latest technical innovations, great importance is attached to a natural driving experience. We present the young company and its folding bikes.
Vello: Modern folding bikes made in Austria
Austria's first folding bike manufactory: The young company Vello develops and produces innovative ones folding bikes for sustainable forms of mobility. State-of-the-art technology is used here - the electric models have KERS motors (Kinetic Energy Recovery System). This technology, which was developed for Formula 1, allows the motor to recuperate from a gradient of 1 degree: the battery is charged while the car is rolling. In theory, the battery never needs to be charged at the lowest support level. Vello even won the German Sustainability Design Award 2022 for this.

Vello sees in its folding bikes the perfect everyday companion in connection with public transport. Due to the low weight and the fast, light folding mechanism, Vello's bikes can be used anywhere without any problems. At 12,9 kg for the electric folding bike made of titanium, you can really speak of effortless handling. The lightest version without a motor even weighs just 9,9 kg. To ensure that not only handling is comfortable, but also driving, Vello uses elastomer damping in the folding mechanism. Vello achieves the most natural riding experience possible thanks to the innovative frame design. With the special, patented folding mechanism, the folding bike is transformed into a compact piece of luggage in seconds.

Sustainable and modular
Buyers can easily configure Vello folding bikes themselves in the online shop: in addition to suitable magnetic lighting, there are also luggage racks, panniers and other accessories. In addition, the gears can also be individually selected on the electric models and the Alfine model. Vello uses recyclable and environmentally friendly materials to manufacture the bikes. Vello also attaches great importance to the ease of repair and reusability of the components. The motor and battery are built into the rear wheel hub and can be easily replaced or repaired - without even affecting the rest of the bike.

The history of Vello
Founder Valentin Vodev came up with the idea for Vello on a trip to Cuba in 2014. Then things happened quickly: patents were registered and a crowdfunding campaign started. The first series can already be built in 2015 and the Vello design is awarded the Red Dot Design Award. The development of the electric model begins in 2017 - at the same time the third generation is produced and receives the European Product Design Award. Finally, in 2019, Vello opened the first flagship store in Vienna and presented its titanium models. These are awarded with prizes such as The Good Design Award, the Austrian State Prize for Design and the German Federal Prize for Ecodesign.
Vello folding bikes: The e-bikes
The Austrian manufacturer Vello offers two e-folding bikes: The Vello Bike+ and the Vello Bike+ made of titanium. Both models have a 250 W motor with 40 NM torque. In addition, Vello has installed a battery with 173 Wh. This results in a range of around 75 km. At 12,9 kg, the titanium version is 1 kg lighter than the steel version. But it also costs 1200 € more. The Bike+ is equipped with disc brakes and can also be configured with automatic shifting.
Vello folding bikes: The models for muscle power
As with the e-bikes, there is also the option of titanium for the Vello Biobikes: the Rocky model is the basic version for €1590 and is also available as a titanium version. Rocky is the all-round folding bike with disc brakes and Shimano XT gears with 10 gears. If you want something a little more carefree, you can use the Alfine model with Shimano Alfine hub gears and belt drive instead.
For the sportiest future folding bike owners, Vello has two delicacies in its range: a gravel version and a racing bike version made of titanium. Both come with Shimano 105 gears with 10 gears. So if you want, you can, for example, experience a sporting adventure on your business trip.
