Track World Championship: Germany takes 2x silver and 1x bronze on day 3

14 October 2022 by Michael Behringer

Ganna Track World Championships

Cycling: Although the Federation of German Cyclists did not win a gold medal on the third day of the Track Cycling World Championships, it was a successful Friday. Because Germany can celebrate two silver and one bronze medal.

Ganna gets the next world record

The big star of the evening was Philippo Ganna. Only a few days after his hour record, the Italian was also able to set a new world record on the track. In the 4.000 meter individual pursuit, Ganna easily won the gold medal. As expected, the Germans were strong in other disciplines. Roger Kluge became Vice World Champion in the points race. You can also look forward to silver Leah Sophie Friedrich. The German only had to face the French in the sprint Mathilde Gross give up. Gros ended the winning streak of the German sprinters. In the small final provided Emma Hinze for bronze.

Leah Sophie Friedrich:
“Of course I would have liked to have had the rainbow jersey because I still don't have that title. And my legs are really good at the moment. But I'm also proud that I won the silver medal. Mathilde has developed enormously. I'm happy for them too. And her victory is an incentive for me to win this title at some point.”
