Van Vleuten drives as if from another planet

Journalists should certainly refrain from using superlatives. But with the performance of Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar) we cannot avoid the words INCREDIBLE, WORLD CLASS and DEMONSTRATION. The Dutchwoman proved once again today that she is in a league of her own when it comes to cycling. On the 127,1-kilometer stage from Sélestat to Le Markstein, she attacked on the first climb. Just her countrywoman Demi Vollering (SD – Worx) was able to stay with her for several kilometers. But then the later stage second had to let go. She finally crossed the finish line almost three and a half minutes behind. The podium completes the Dane Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (FDJ – SUEZ – Futuroscope),

Tomorrow: La Super Planche des Belles Filles

Leads in the overall standings Annemiek van Vleuten now also sovereign. The competitors will be annoyed that they didn't take advantage of their chances on the previous days. Because it would have been possible to get a much bigger lead over the Dutchwoman. But now the yellow jersey sits firmly on Annemiek van Vleuten's shoulders. The winner of the women's Giro d'Italia will probably not miss the Giro/Tour double tomorrow. On the final stage of the Tour de France Femmes, however, the decision will be made tomorrow in the fight for the podium and for all other classifications. On the last day, another 123,3 kilometers have to be covered from Lure to La Super Planche des Belles Filles.

Just days ago she couldn't eat due to illness.

Today Annemiek van Vleuten wins Stage 7 of the Tour de France in absolutely dominant style.
