Cycling: Lorena Wiebes also won the fifth stage and thus her second at the Tour de France Femmes. The Dutch won the mass sprint in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges ahead of Italy's Elisa Balsamo and her compatriot Marianne Vos.
Wiebes asserts himself confidently
In her green jersey, fetches herself Lorraine Wiebes (DSM) after 175,6 kilometers from Bar-le-Duc to Saint-Dié-des-Vosges their second stage victory in this year's Tour de France Femmes. The 23-year-old Dutchwoman again proved to be the fastest woman in the peloton on the flat section in the mass sprint. The Italian Elisa Balsam (Trek – Segafredo) and the Dutch woman Marianne Vos (Jumbo – Visma) only places two and three remained. With that, Vos defended her yellow jersey again. Fourth overall could not really take part in the mass sprint Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek – Segafredo). The Italian took a wrong turn in the last kilometer and was only 62nd – after all, she didn't lose any time.
What a for Elisa Longo Borghini – who goes the wrong way! ⚠️
