Move E-MTB rear wheel

Implementing an E-MTB rear wheel: In the next issue of our riding technique video series, we would like to bring you together with the experts from the MTB Academy show how you can safely move the rear wheel on the e-bike or mountain bike.

Being able to move the rear wheel of your e-mountain bike can increase your riding flow in the long term, is fun and gives you more self-confidence on the trail. The maneuver can help optimize the rear wheel line and can be used in a tight switchback to put the rear wheel all the way around the corner. When learning, it is important to take your time and work through the three steps slowly.

8. Riding technique video: Repositioning the E-MTB rear wheel

Before you begin the three steps to swapping your rear wheel, it's important that your front brake levers are properly adjusted. The levers should only be operable with the index fingers. We start the exercises for moving the rear wheel with the correct brakes. First slowly approach the dead center with a controlled index finger flexion and try to get a good feeling for the front wheel brake. A safety tip from the expert Stefan Hermann: First practice pushing the bike and braking with the front wheel so you can avoid falling over the handlebars.

In the second step, the front wheel is braked at the same time by the leg extension supports. This frees the rear wheel and lifts it off the ground. Again, approach slowly and avoid hasty movements. In the last and final step comes the rotation of the hip in the desired direction. The rear wheel then follows the body in the same direction. In addition, the rotation can be supported by a gentle steering movement.
