National Championships: These are the new state champions

June 26, 2022 by Michael Behringer

Grossschartner National Championships

Cycling: Traditionally, the national championships are held in many countries on the weekend before the start of the Tour de France. We take a look at the new national champions in the time trial and road race.

Großschartner celebrates double success in Austria

For the first time in his career he is allowed to Felix Grossschartner (Bora – hansgrohe) as the Austrian champion – and twice over. In addition to the time trial, the 28-year-old also won the road race. This was so dominated by Bora - hansgrohe that the first five places went to the Raublinger racing team. The team has also fulfilled its duty in Germany. Conquered the championship jersey for the first time Nils Politt in street racing and Lennard Kamna in the time trial. Premiere also in Switzerland: Joel Sutter (UAE) won the time trial and the road race was on Robin Froidevaux (Tudor).

Cavendish, Merlier, Senechal & Almeida

It will also be easy to recognize from now on for the next twelve months Mark Cavendish (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl). The now 37-year-old won the title in Great Britain for the second time after 2013. Decided the sprint in Belgium Tim Merlier (Alpecin – Fenix) for himself. Florian Senechal (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) won the road race in France. Joao almeida (UAE) won easily as a soloist in Portugal.
