Cycling: Valentin Ferron has won the sixth stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné. The Frenchman was the strongest of today's escapees and can therefore celebrate his first win of the season in Gap.
Ferron WINS at French podium
The sixth stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné from Rives to Gap was all about the French. Only one of the six escapees came from Italy. Andrea Bagioli (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl), however, shouldn't have a chance in the sprint for the day's victory after 196,5 kilometers and in the end ahead Geoffrey Bouchard (AG2R – Citroën) and victor lafay (Cofidis) occupy only long four. The radiant winner is called Valentine Ferron (Total Energies). The only 24-year-old celebrates his first win of the season. Completing the all-French podium Pierre Roland (B&B Hotels – KTM) and Warren Barguil (Arkea – Samsic). The peloton let the prominent breakaway group go and crossed the finish line 32 seconds later. In the overall standings, there were no shifts among the top drivers. wout van aert (Jumbo – Visma) will tackle the next two mountain stages in the yellow jersey.
