Product News / E-Bike: As a bicycle manufacturer especially for women, Liv has probably built up a good reputation for many years. After focusing on sporty bikes from MTB to racing bikes in the early days, the portfolio has been steadily expanded in recent years - also in the direction of everyday life, city, touring. With the Liv Allure E+, Giant's sister brand is now presenting the first city e-bike with numerous exciting technical features and a modern look.
As a non-electrified bike, the Allure has had a permanent place in the Liv range for some time. However, the Allure E+ has little in common with its sister model apart from its area of use and the name: Visually, it hovers somewhere between a pragmatic city bike and a stylish urban bike. The frame, which is only available as a step-through frame, comes with some nice details such as the raised chainstay, which makes it possible to mount a toothed belt without having to open the frame. Smaller applications in leather look and the modern lines complete the impression.
The Allure E+ is factory-equipped with a stable rear carrier made by MIK HD, into which the rear light has also been integrated. There are also mounting points for a luggage rack at the front of the frame - so if you want to mount a basket or even a compact rack, you can do so. Nice: The headlight mounted on the handlebars has a long cable so that it can also be moved to the fork when mounting a basket.
Two drive systems with 500 Wh battery
As usual, Liv relies on the in-house SyncDrive drives for the drive. Here, Liv or Giant embeds motors from Yamaha in their own ecosystem - i.e. sensors, software, battery and operation. Depending on the equipment variant, either the SyncDrive Core or the SyncDrive Sport drive is used in the Liv Allure E+. While the somewhat simpler SyncDrive Core is based on the Yamaha PW-CE and is somewhat tamer with a maximum torque of 50 Nm, the SyncDrive Sport based on the Yamaha PW-SE lives up to its name. With 70 Nm of torque, you have a lot of power on board for the city.
In all equipment variants, the motor is powered by a compact battery in the down tube with a capacity of 500 Wh. That may not sound like much at first - and yes, compared to the direct competition, the capacity is lower. But with Liv, of course, you had something in mind; because honestly, in an everyday bike like the Allure E+, ranges beyond 100 km are hardly necessary. On the other hand, the advantages of a smaller battery come into play much more. Example of size and weight: The battery can be easily removed from the top of the frame. Its relatively low weight is also noticeable: At around 27 kg, the Liv Allure E+ is one of the rather light bikes in this class.
Modern operating concept
The operating concept of the Liv Allure E+ is extremely modern. The minimalistic RideControl Go is located in the top tube, with which the drive can be switched on and off and whose LEDs provide information on the support level and the charge level of the battery. The operation itself is carried out via an ergonomically successful control unit on the handlebars and the entire system is supplemented by the RideControl Dash Evo Display elegantly integrated into the adjustable stem. The latter is very bright and the strong colors are easy to read even in direct sunlight. The range of functions is also impressive: in conjunction with the RideControl app on the smartphone, navigation instructions for a route previously set on the cell phone can also be displayed here.
