MTB News: The bike mecca of Saalfelden Leogang is once again hosting the first double World Cup of the season this year. From June 10th to 12th, the best cross-country riders in the world as well as the downhill elite will fight for important points and victory. Voted the best downhill world cup location of 2021 by the UCI, the event in Salzburger Land is a must for riders and fans.
After the successful opening races in Lourdes (FRA) and Petrópolis (BRA), the spectators can look forward to tough action in two weeks. Of course, the overall Downhill World Cup winner and local hero Vali Höll, after whom a section of the route is named, is also part of the party. However, not only World Cup action is announced on the festival weekend. Among other things, an Expo Area with the hottest news from the bike world and the Team Area, where you can take a look over the shoulder of the world's best riders, await around 20.000 visitors. The two areas are open on Friday from 12.00:20.00 p.m. to 10.00:20.00 p.m., on Saturday from 9.30:17.00 a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. and on Sunday from XNUMX:XNUMX a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
“Not many athletes get the honor of competing in a World Cup on their own doorstep. It's also very special for me as I more or less grew up around the track. I used to watch my heroes race there, and now I'm suddenly there and I'm racing. Of course I still have a score to settle with the route. The last two times it hasn't worked out the way I'd imagined. I know I'm good on the track, but there are always many factors that come into play to bring it down in the end. I'm trying it for the third time now." – Vali Hell
