Tour de Romandie #1: Teuns catches Dennis on the finish line

27 April 2022 by Michael Behringer

Teuns Romandie

Cycling: The first stage of the Tour de Romandie ends with a victory for Dylan Teuns. The Belgian was only able to catch the Australian Rohan Dennis a few millimeters from the finish line. But he can now be happy about the leader's jersey, after he also finished second in yesterday's prologue.

Teuns confirms his top form

The 178-kilometer stage from La Grande Beroche to Romont will not exactly go down in the history of the Tour de Romandie as the most exciting. Only in the final ascent did the section captivate the spectators and offered an exciting fight for the day's victory and the leader's jersey. For a long time it looked like it would Rohan Dennis (Jumbo – Visma) get both, but then came Dylan teuns (Bahrain-Victorious). The winner of the Flèche Wallonne gained meter by meter and practically passed the finish line. After all, the day's second can look forward to the leader's jersey. The podium completes Marc Hirschi (UAE) from Switzerland.

Hayter wins the prologue

The 75th edition of the Tour de Romandie started yesterday, Tuesday, with a prologue in Lausanne. On the 5,12 kilometer course, the Briton surprisingly sat down ethan hayter (Ineos Grenadiers) through. He referred the Australian Rohan Dennis (Jumbo – Visma) and the Austrian Felix Grossschartner (Bora – hansgrohe) by four and ten seconds respectively to second and third place. The German celebrated a strong comeback Maximilian schachmann (Bora – hansgrohe), who finished fifth, 13 seconds behind. The Tour de Romandie will end on Sunday with a mountain time trial from Aigle to Villars.
