Cycling: Primoz Roglic set an example right at the start of the Tour of the Basque Country. The defending champion from Slovenia won the opening time trial ahead of Belgian Remco Evenepoel.

Roglic wins at Hondarribia

The 7,51 kilometer opening time trial of the Tour of the Basque Country, starting and finishing in Hondarribia, was an affair for Monday Primois Roglic (Jumbo - Visma). As the defending champion, the Slovenian was the last driver to start and was able to beat his Belgian opponent Remco Evenepoel (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) still intercept. The Frenchman completes the podium Remi Cavagna (Quick Step Alpha Vinyl).



Tour of the Basque Country 2022 ends on Saturday

After today's opening time trial with start and finish in Hondarribia, the Tour of the Basque Country will continue on the usual hilly terrain. The 61st Itzulia Basque Country finally ends in Arrate after six days. Last year's winner Primois Roglic (Jumbo – Visma) will try to defend his title and win the Tour for the third time after 2021 and 2018. Above all, he must be against Remco Evenepoel (Quick Step Alpha Vinyl), Adam Yates (Ineos Grenadiers), david gaudu (Groupama – FDJ) and Alexander Vlasov (Bora – hansgrohe) claim.
