Tour de France: These 4 teams have received wildcards from the ASO for 2022

February 11, 2022 by Michael Behringer

Tour de France wild cards

Cycling: The 2022 Tour de France teams are complete. Today, Friday, the ASO announced which four ProTeams are allowed to start in addition to the 18 WorldTour teams at the Grand Tour in France.

Alpecin – Fenix and three French teams

On July 1, 2022, the 109th edition of the Tour de France will start in Denmark. In addition to the already established 18 WorldTour teams, the four available wildcards were distributed today. It was already clear that the Alpecin – Fenix and Arkéa – Samsic teams would be given the right to start, as they were the two best second-division teams last season. The line-up is completed by two other French teams: B&B Hotels – KTM and TotalEnergies. So the fans can probably look forward to another Tour de France with Peter Sagan.

Disappointment at Uno-X

The Uno-X team hoped for an invitation until the end. The Norwegian team has repeatedly impressed with young talent in recent years. In addition to numerous Norwegians, there are also many Danes in the squad, who would certainly have loved to have been at the Grand Depart in Copenhagen.

Jens Haugland, CEO of Uno-X:
"We respect this decision and are grateful for all the great invitations this season. We keep fighting. Our squad will soon be seen at many major national tours.”
