First ride: Corratec Allroad Travel

February 21, 2022 by Florian Nowak

First Ride: Gravel bikes have been the climbers in the bicycle industry in recent years. Due to their versatility, they convince long-established cycling fans and beginners alike. Nevertheless, there are of course also specialists in the ranks of gravel bikes. For this reason, the Bavarian manufacturer Corratec has even created its own category for its touring and bikepacking gravel models. These bikes are simply called travel bikes. The flagship of the manufacturer is the specially designed Corratec Allroad Travel, which should be the ideal partner for travel and adventure. We visited Corratec and took a look at the Allroad Travel 1. Before the detailed test in a few weeks, you can already find our first impressions here.

Corratec Allroad Travel

An "ideal partner for individual adventure trips" is how the manufacturer describes his Corratec Allroad Travel 1. The gravel/travel bike was designed specifically for long tours and even got its own category among the manufacturer's gravel bikes.

The setup is clear, because you want to offer the rider a relaxed and robust bike with which you can go on long journeys without any problems and don't have to shy away from any obstacles. The Allroad Travel was developed from scratch in-house and equipped with a balanced frame geometry. The seating position is therefore relatively relaxed, while the long wheelbase should ensure smooth running. We will observe more closely in our test how this affects the agility. But when it comes to long distances, the Allroad Travel can fully demonstrate its strengths and impress with its good rolling characteristics.

For added comfort, the high-quality aluminum frame has been fitted with a lowered rear end to ensure more flexibility and comfort, especially in the seating area, even on bumpy stretches. At the front, the Redshift stem offers damping properties and thus serves as the perfect complement in terms of comfort.

The most important features of the Corratec Allroad Travel are without a doubt the countless mounts for luggage racks, mudguards and bottle holders, which offer various options for attaching the necessary luggage to the bike. So nothing should stand in the way of your next bikepacking trip.

With a high-quality equipment with a complete Shimano GRX 2-speed groupset and in-house carbon wheels, the Allroad Travel 1 has the best starting conditions to offer lots of riding fun on any tours, adventures and bike tours. We are excited to see how the bike performs in the intensive test and will of course report back to you shortly.

More than Florian Nowak

Florian Nowak is a professional cyclist at the EuropeTour level and has competed in many international races. At the German championship in 2017, he was the best non-WorldTour professional in 7th place and was therefore able to recommend himself for the Tour de L'Avenir and the World Championships. But he doesn't just feel comfortable on the racing bike, he's also always drawn to off-road terrain. In addition to sport, he works on his second mainstay and has completed his business administration studies at the LMU Munich.
