Ride Farr: Cool parts for gravel bikers

19 January 2022 by Christian Ettl

The gravel bike boom continues and with it new brands and ideas are stepping into the limelight. Farr or Ride Farr from Australia is one of the brands that are excellent for Gravel. Here you can find out everything about the most interesting products for gravelling.

(Ride) Farr himself says: "Farr's components and accessories developed in Australia are inspired by adventure and endurance sports." You can see that in the product range. And it's quite extensive. In addition to handlebars and stems, there are also bags, saddles, axles, computer mounts, thru axles and even our own frames and forks. Here we show two parts as an example, which we also tried out because they seemed particularly interesting to us. The parts are sold in Germany by Trailtoys.

(Ride) Farr Aero Bolt On

Anyone who travels longer distances knows this: changing the grip position is really good. The racing handlebars offer various possibilities and with the Aero attachment from Ride Farr there is another one that is very pleasant, especially at high speeds or against a headwind, because the contact surface is reduced. The revised version of the Bolt-On is already in the starting blocks as V3, i.e. in the second revision. The Farr Carbon Aero Bolt-On V2 is intended as an upgrade for MTB and road handlebars, whenever you want to make yourself "aerodynamically small".

The ergonomic shape enables a wider grip position, which not only brings comfort, but also aerodynamic advantages. The Carbon Aero Bolt-On makes a noticeable difference, especially over long distances or in endurance racing. With its 31,8 mm handlebar clamp, the attachment fits standard handlebars, both for racing bikes and gravel bikes as well as for mountain bikes or touring bikes. The fact that the Ride Farr team drives themselves is also made clear by the fact that the shape in the front, middle area has been designed in such a way that a GPS device or the front light can be easily mounted.

The facts

  • super light carbon construction
  • compatible with MTB and drop bars
  • Mounting of bike computer or front lights possible
  • 31,8 mm clamping
  • Weight: approx. 98 g
  • Material: Carbon
  • Warranty: 2 years
  • Price € 189,90

(Ride) Farr Alloy Gravel Handlebars

The Aero Bolt-On is fully integrated in the Farr Aero Gravel Handlebar from the factory. The numerous grip options offer more comfort and variety for every bike adventure, whether on short trips with the gravel bike or long bikepacking trips. The flare of 25 degrees is very pleasant, so you can reach the lower links without twisting yourself. This makes a lot of sense, especially on long rides or bikepacking trips. Nevertheless, Ride Farr doesn't overdo it, the extreme flares of 30 degrees and more that you've been seeing again and again lately are too much! The weight is between 480 and 520 grams, depending on the width. Not a record, but not a point of criticism either. The widths are also common, you can choose between 3 variants: 420, 440 and 460 millimeters. The drop is always 124 millimeters and the reach is 80 millimeters. Fits for us!

There are nice accessories to complete your handlebars. In the small bag for the integrated aero attachment of the Farr Aero Handlebar there is space for all sorts of goodies that should be close at hand during the ride. The bag, specially developed for the handlebars, has a zipped compartment for keys, money or a smartphone on the top. On the underside, for example, the jacket can be attached with a rubber band. The top is made of 300D Diamond RipStop and the bottom is made of 500D Cordura. The bag is available for €69,90.

Another nice part to complement the handlebars or the handlebar attachment are the "arm rests". Another grip option can be used without a forearm support, but it is not yet 1oo percent complete. The lightweight and modular design makes the Arm Rests compatible with many handlebars on the market if they have a 31,8 clamp diameter. They can be adjusted in many ways and spare parts are also available individually. The CNC construction with a comfortable 7mm thick EVA foam padding only weighs 222 grams, they promise. €139,90 will be charged for this
