Readers' choice 2022: Over a period of several weeks, you - our readers - voted for the most exciting bikes of the 2022 season. Over 6.000 votes came together and we have now evaluated every single one of them. The results were also extremely exciting for us - especially in the very lively area of cargo bikes. Cargo bikes have been popular for a number of years anyway, but the variety in this segment has recently increased.
The Velomotion readers' choice took place between December 15, 2021 and January 15, 2022. You have selected your favorites from a total of 17 bike categories. After the evaluation, we don't want to withhold the results from you and present you with the respective top 3.

Cargo bikes are changing - or, to put it better: There is more variety! The classic Long John Bike, single-track, with a transport box in front of the handlebars, has competition. Compact representatives in particular are becoming increasingly popular; nevertheless, our readers' choice shows that the traditional cargo bike is still extremely popular. At the top of the podium is the FUB 2W, the first Cargo from Winora with an exciting concept at an attractive price. The second-ranked Rob Cargo from Hercules may seem like a typical representative of the modern cargo squad at first glance, but it is in a way the forefather of the e-cargo bike. Last but not least, with the NC-2 from the aluminum specialists from Nicolai, another newcomer has found its way onto the podium of the best cargo bikes of 1, which has some really exciting and innovative features on board.
Winora calls his new cargo creation the Family Utility Bike (FUB). The area of application is thus already clear and the focus is on transporting children. For this, Winora relies on a transport box made of shock-absorbing EPP particle foam, which is also equipped with side impact protection. For their part, mum and dad are happy about the powerful Bosch Cargo Line motor, which is powered by one or two 500 Wh batteries. The Shimano Nexus shifting hub, which has been optimized for e-bikes, is responsible for changing gears.

Long before the cargo bike boom, Hercules already had an e-cargo bike in its range with the Rob Cargo, that's eight (!) years ago. The concept of a compact e-bike that can also transport heavy loads is more relevant today than ever. Unsurprisingly, Hercules is giving the Rob Cargo a new frame for 2022. In addition to a more modern look, this also increases the permissible total weight to 180 kg. The quiet Performance Line motor from Bosch should have enough power for most areas of use.

The well-known Nicolai qualities are also directly recognizable on the NC-1: Clear, timeless shapes, beautifully even weld seams and technical finesse. On the NC-1, the latter consists, for example, in the cleverly designed steering rod, with which even tight curve radii are no problem. Superstructures such as child seats are currently being developed together with a partner. The new Bosch Smart System with CX motor and 750 Wh battery is already installed in the drive. A second slot allows you to carry another battery.
