Classified Powershift X CEEPO: The new shifting technology is now also gaining ground in the triathlon sector

December 17, 2021 by Florian Nowak

Product news: With its high-quality bikes, the bicycle manufacturer CEEPO should be well known to triathlon fans in particular. It is precisely for this sport that CEEPO is the first manufacturer to bring Classified Powershift technology to the long and short distance triathlon segment. CEEPO's Shadow and Katana triathlon bikes are now equipped with Classified's Powershift hub and wheel sets.

The innovative 2-speed wireless shifter from Classified, integrated into the rear wheel hub, allows you to change from one gear to the other in a flash – under full load and on any terrain. The reliable and super-fast technology from Classified thus replaces the classic front derailleur and is perfectly compatible with 11- and 12-speed rear derailleurs. Now the innovative switching system is also gaining ground in the triathlon sector and, in CEEPO, has been able to gain a well-known partner from the scene.

Triathletes often remove the derailleur and use a single chainring to improve the bike's aerodynamics, but at the expense of gear range. This is where the new technology comes in, as Classified has developed a more aerodynamic shifting system by eliminating the front derailleur and optimizing surface area without sacrificing shifting efficiency or range. On the contrary, since you are always on the large chainring, the efficiency should increase twice as much as with conventional groupsets. In addition, Classified can be shifted under load, which means that the athlete does not have to miss a step, which can provide the decisive seconds in the competition. According to the manufacturer, the new technology is the perfect complement to the aerodynamically optimized bikes from CEEPO.

“Our new partnership with Classified brings more aerodynamics to our triathlon bikes while increasing efficiency and gear range. This partnership helps us get one step closer to our mission to produce fast, aerodynamic bikes for daytime performance.” – Sean Chou, Head of R&D at CEEPO

“It’s fantastic to see the first triathlon implementation of the Classified drivetrain on a CEEPO bike. The aerodynamic and efficiency benefits of riding Classified are a huge advantage for triathlon racers. Classified fits perfectly with CEEPO’s design ethos and obsession with aerodynamic and efficient solutions. ” – Mathias Plouvier, CEO of Classified.
