In the past four years, the Quick-Step team has finished the season as the best team on the UCI WorldTour three times. They were only narrowly beaten in second place in 2020. This season they were the measure of all things again - and on some terrains. So brilliant Mark Cavendish at the Tour de France in the mass sprints, Kasper Asgreen on cobblestones, Joao almeida as a ranking driver and Julian Alaphilippe as usual, actually everywhere. And then there would still be Remco Evenepoel. According to all media reports, the Belgian super talent had a rather weak season, but was still the third best man in his team. That alone shows how much can be expected of him - and of the Quick-Step team in general.
Quick-Step – Alpha Vinyl 2022: More victories are guaranteed
As is the case almost every season, the Quick-Step team will also lose a number of important professionals for the coming year. Sam Bennett returns to Bora – hansgrohe after a dispute with team boss Patrick Lefevere. Above all, the departure of hurts Joao Almeida. The strong classification driver is drawn to the UAE Team Emirates. Whether record holder Mark Cavendish remains is currently uncertain. The team is mainly reinforced by climbers Louis Vervaeke – XNUMXth overall of the Giro – and some promising talent. The Swiss Mauro Schmid for example, already won a stage at the Giro d'Italia and is only 21 years old.
